Worthing Charity Open

Last year was very much focussed on getting members to our terrain, take part in competitions and making things fun and enjoyable for members. And we'd like to think that we managed that! For 2017 we're looking to "take BHPC on tour" and get our club more involved with competitions outside of Brighton & Hove.

Last year was very much focussed on getting members to our terrain, take part in competitions and making things fun and enjoyable for members. And we'd like to think that we managed that! For 2017 we're looking to "take BHPC on tour" and get our club more involved with competitions outside of Brighton & Hove.

At Worthing Petanque, BHPC was represented by no less than four doubles teams, including:

  • Terry G & Pat C
  • Di & Chris Vincent
  • Alan & Joe Issler
  • Chris H & Nick R

An incredible 44 doubles teams turned up to play from all over the southern region (some players from as far away as Bournemouth!) and the day kicked off with a warm welcome from the local Town Crier.

Eleven leagues of four teams soon sorted us all out into Gold, Silver and... erm, Tin Pot knockout competitions for the afternoon. Each level also had a consolage competition for anyone knocked out in the first round. So there was plenty to play far, no matter how well (or how badly) you might have played in the opening league.

Despite the foggy start, the afternoon turned into quite a bright, warm day and plenty of petanque was enjoyed by players from all across the south east region.

The results?

Well, it's not really the winning that matters, it's the taking part isn't it?!
