A dozen of Sussex’s finest came to our terrain on Sunday 15 July for the first regional Singles Championship on a wonderful summer’s day of at least 19 degrees and a couple of hours of sunshine.
Out of three leagues of four players, the top eight went into the Main and the others into the Plate. BHPC was well represented: David Alfred, Steve Elliott, Harvey and Libby Knowles and Tony Mann.
In the Main final, David, counter-intuitively, beat Joe Phillips (Hastings) 13-7. Well done to David, our ‘new’ President and to Tony (EPA National Secretary) who won the Plate, and thanks to all the club’s players and to everyone who participated in this new competition.
There’s a fuller account in the July newsletter (go to the ‘About’ drop-down menu).

Congratulations, I’m sure a very worthy winner. Well done, Ray.
Thanks, Ray. I’m not sure what happened! Meanwhile, I love your ‘Letters from Provence’, so evocative and full of character – la vraie petanque. Continue to show ‘em that l’anglais is not to be messed with! David
